hall of famers

It is with great pride that Bremen High School announces the 2024 Hall of Fame inductees, honoring two distinguished alumni who have exemplified the values of service, leadership, and dedication in their professional and personal lives. This year’s inductees are Dominic D’Ambrosio (Class of 1992) and Sue Vaughan Nelson (Class of 1962).

Dominic D’Ambrosio is a proud graduate of the Class of 1992, where he was actively involved in  football wrestling, and the DECA program, serving as DECA President during his senior year. After high school, Dominic served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1995 to 1999, achieving the rank of Platoon Sergeant while stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. Upon his return, Dominic earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an MBA in Public Administration through his studies at Chicago State University, Governors State University, and University of the Southwest.

For over two decades, Dominic has been a dedicated public servant with the Oak Forest Police Department, where he has held multiple roles, including patrol officer, Tactical Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, and currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Police. His commitment to his community extends beyond his professional work, as Dominic is an active coach and volunteer in youth sports programs and contributes his time to veteran support organizations. He is married to Christina, and they have two sons, Dominic and Nicholas. Dominic’s exemplary service and leadership reflect the true spirit of a Bremen Brave.

Sue Vaughan Nelson, a graduate of the Class of 1962, is a lifelong educator and advocate for academic excellence. At Bremen High School, Sue was involved in Student Council, Thespians Club, Student Education Association, and the National Honor Society. After graduating, she attended Millikin University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.

Sue’s commitment to education spans a long and successful career, teaching students of all ages and abilities. She remains a dedicated alumna, actively involved in alumni associations, reunion committees, and scholarship efforts at both Bremen High School and Millikin University. In recognition of her dedication, Millikin University honored her with the Loyalty Award in 2023. Sue is married to Kenneth, and they are the proud parents of three children, Jeffrey, Amy, and Bradley, as well as five grandchildren. Sue’s dedication to education and philanthropy makes her a shining example of what it means to be a Bremen Brave.

The Bremen community congratulates Dominic D’Ambrosio and Sue Vaughan Nelson on their induction into the 2024 Bremen High School Hall of Fame. Their achievements and service inspire future generations of Bremen Braves, and we are proud to honor them.
