Over 450 District 228 Students Earned Industry Credentials During The Fall Semester

Bremen High School District 228 recognized 451 students for earning an industry credential during the fall 2023 semester. Industry credentials help to verify the mastery of skills and qualifications in a highly skilled area sought by industries.

Advance Illinois, and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission's  goal is to increase the number of adults with high-quality college degrees and postsecondary credentials to 60% by the year 2025. Industry credentials are recognized by most industries and places of employment.

District 228 encourages students to explore their career interests and work toward credentials in their career area of interest so they graduate with a high school diploma and a credential.

"Industry credentials are important to students because they can show employers that they actually have the skills to be real world ready to get a job. They're an enhancement to the curriculum that we have now, and help our students get prepared to be college and career ready," said Renee Mack, District 228's Career Readiness Coordinator.

The district offers opportunities for students to earn industry credentials in: ServSafe Manager, ServSafeFood Handler,  American Heart Association CPR, OSHA, Quickbooks, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Certified Professional, Early Childhood Education Level 1, Welding SMAW,  Drone flying-Recreational UAS Safety Test, S/p2 Auto, and American Lifeguard.
