Tinley Park High School freshman Maggie Gormley was the first girl since 1993 to qualify for the IHSA State Cross Country Meet! This is a HUGE accomplishment for TPHS! "I was shocked because I didn't really think that I would be able to go to state at first. I thought sectionals was just a fun race, I would be fine, it’s just the last race of the season,” Maggie said. “Then it turned out that it wasn't the last race. When I heard that I was the first girl after 30 years, I was like, ‘That's insane!’ And that's a big accomplishment, especially as a freshman.” Read more about this amazing accomplishment in the Patch: https://patch.com/illinois/tinleypark/tphs-freshman-1st-girl-93-qualify-state-cross-country

Today, November 15, is about saying Thank You to the District 228 school board. Our board members spend multiple hours each month on district work, attending meetings, and other responsibilities that some may never hear or read about. This is time they could spend with their families and for themselves. We in District 228 thank our Board of Education for their service to the district and our students! #ThankaBoardMemberDay

Oak Forest AP Studio Art Teacher Dan Chambers and student artist Abbey H. were live on CBS2 this morning to talk about the Memory Project! For the past few weeks, Oak Forest High School AP studio art students have been working on portraits of children in need from Colombia through the Memory Project. Eleven students from OFHS have put in hours of hard work painting and/or drawing their portraits. On the back of each portrait, students traced their hands and wrote a message inside the tracing to the child they created artwork for. Children who will receive their artwork are orphans, refugees, or displaced. OFHS students are proud to work so hard on something they ultimately have to give away. Learn more about the project and check out the interview below! #TheBengalWay https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/oak-forest-high-school-art-students-portraits-colombian-children/
